Project Proposal

Due Saturday October 28 before 11:30pm

Overview

For this assignment, you will propose a final project to be completed by 1 to 3 people. The final project is due during finals week.

Let me know when you have formed your project team so that I can create a team dropbox for you.

Requirements

Identify a domain and usage scenarios that your final project should address. While not required, you are encouraged to conduct some discovery methods such as user interviews, contextual inquiry and competitive analysis. Strive to identify unique use cases that are not already addressed by existing products.

The scope of the project is up to you, but it should be several times the size as any of the individual projects. A larger scope is generally expected for larger teams.

Deliverables

The proposal should be a PDF document. Only one submission per team is required.

The project proposal must specify the following:

  • Team members and anticipated roles.
  • Overall description of the domain and the root concept
  • Scenarios of use (i.e. use cases)
  • Timeline of work completion

In addition the proposal may include the following:

  • Summary and findings of discovery methods
  • Wireframes
  • Data models
  • Appendix of code samples

Grading

This project propsoal is worth 20 points and will be reviewed using the following criteria:

  • Completeness. The report address all requirements.
  • Specificity. The details and process are specified well enough to evaluate the scope of the project.
  • Originality. The pages have original work, ideally based on an original concept.
  • Ease of review. Required elements are easy to find and review. The document is easy to read.
