Tips and Links for Posting Web Pages
- CDM has provided student accounts for all students enrolled in IT
130. Here's an online document
for transfering files to the server. Thanks to Yosef Mendelsohn and Ed Devaney for creating it.
- While you can use any Web browser, I
recommend Google Chrome,
which provides the most help in finding problems with your web page.
Firefox is also a good browser for web projects.
- Make sure that your Microsoft File Explorer is set to show
file extensions:
- Open an File Folder
- Under Organize, select "Folder and Search Options"
- Select the View tab and
uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types".
- Here are some recommendations for developing your own web pages:
- Create and test your pages as files on your computer before you
transfer them to the web server.
- Choose file names that do not have any spaces or fancy characters.
- Either use all lower case letters for file names, or be consistent
with the case of your file names. Some web servers are case
sensitive!
